Mobile application – Frequently Asked Questions

INSTALLATION

Is the mobile application free?

Yes, the application is free and easy to instal. FADOQ membership, however, is not free.

What devices can the application be used with?

The application can be used with both Apple and Android smartphones and tablets.

For the best possible experience, our app is optimized for Android 6 and iOS 13 or later versions. System updates are recommended to take full advantage of our features.

Is the mobile application also available on tablets?

The mobile application is now available on tablets. Please note that it’s much more convenient to use your smartphone to present your virtual membership card and to look for discounts.

How do I install the FADOQ application?

First of all, you need to make sure that your smartphones or tablets account lets you download applications from the App Store or Google Play.

Application update

This occurs when an essential update is required. A message will be displayed when you open the mobile application. Users need to download the update in order to access new features of the mobile application.

YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION

What information does the application gather?

To identify yourself as a member, we ask you:

  • Your membership number
  • Your birthday date and month
  • Your postal code

The application enables you to:

  • add your email address in your member profile
  • specify whether you wish to switch to a virtual membership card
  • renew your membership card by credit card. Payment is secure and FADOQ does not retain your credit card information.

The application also transmits browsing data anonymously for statistical purposes.

Why am I asked for my date of birth and postal code?

This information is required to identify you as a FADOQ member and to link the correct information to your account.

Why are you asking for my email address?

Upon payment of your renewal, we will send you your transaction receipt by email.

At the same time, you will be asked to confirm whether you wish to subscribe to the FADOQ newsletter. By adding your email address to your file, you can also receive your renewal notice electronically. When you renew on time, you retain all your benefits.

FUNCTIONS

What is the notice of withdrawal?

Here is the text of the notice of withdrawal:

In joining FADOQ, I consent to FADOQ communicating my name, address and telephone number to certain partners (see www.fadoq.ca) for solicitation purposes, and to receive information by mail or telephone on products and services. I understand that I may unsubscribe from the mailing list at any time by clicking on the unsubscribe link at www.fadoq.ca or by using the phone number listed on our “Contact Us” page or at info@fadoq.ca.

Can I use the application without Internet access?

No. You need Internet access to use the application. If you have Internet access, you need to take into consideration the amount of data used by the application. The virtual membership card can be used in offline mode.

Do I have to be a member to use the application?

No. You can view discounts available to FADOQ members, but you must be a member to obtain certain promotional codes that give you access to discounts. You must also present your card when you visit one of our participating partner stores.

What happens when I click on the "Log me out" link?

Your membership card will no longer appear on the mobile application. The “Log me out” link is then replaced by the “Log me in / Become a member” link.

To retrieve your virtual card on your smartphone or tablet, click on the “My Card” button. Then click on the “Login” link and enter your membership number, date of birth, and postal code.

Important: You cannot change your card type selection by removing your virtual card from the FADOQ mobile application.

Can I integrate my FADOQ virtual card into a Wallet-type application?

It is not possible to integrate the FADOQ virtual card into another smartphone or tablet. The membership card is only available through the Réseau FADOQ mobile application.

SAFETY

Is my personal information protected?

Information is protected in a secure database that is not accessible to the general public. Several protection mechanisms have been put in place to safeguard your information. The only personal information required to use the mobile application is your day/month of birth and your postal code. Is it safe to pay for my membership card using this application?

Yes. Payments are processed via a secure payment gateway. The gateway uses the highest security standards to ensure that your information is secure. FADOQ does not store any credit card information.

Do I have to log out after each use of the mobile application?

No. It’s even better not to. This way, you can keep your virtual FADOQ card on your smartphone or tablet at all times. The FADOQ application is completely secure.

What are the differences between a virtual card and the plastic card I receive in the mail?

When you opt for the virtual card, it becomes your only membership card. You will no longer receive a plastic card in the mail. Your card will be on your smartphone or tablet at all times. You’ll be helping to reduce our ecological footprint by eliminating plastic, paper and transport for mailing. A fine gesture for the environment! You’ll also avoid postal delays.

If I choose the virtual card, can I then go back to a plastic membership card?

Simply contact your FADOQ regional group to obtain your plastic FADOQ card to replace your virtual card. Charges may apply.

Can I have my virtual card and keep my plastic card?

No. The aim of the FADOQ application and virtual card is to reduce the ecological footprint and cut renewal processing times and mailing costs. However, if you switch to the virtual card during your membership, you can keep your plastic card until it expires.

How do I remove my virtual card from the FADOQ application?

To remove your card from the FADOQ mobile application, go to the Settings section in the bottom right-hand corner of your application. You can then remove your membership card from your application by clicking on the “Log me out” button.

Can I enter my virtual membership card and my spouse's card on the same device?

It is not possible to install two cards on your smartphone or tablet. Choose a single card to keep on your device at all times. If one spouse doesn’t own a smartphone or tablet, it’s a good idea for that spouse to continue requesting his or her plastic membership card by mail.

Will my virtual card be recognized by my club or by merchants who offer FADOQ discounts?

Yes. All FADOQ clubs as well as merchants and partners of Réseau FADOQ are informed of the existence of this new virtual card. However, as with any new procedure, it may take some time for the information to be disseminated. You can refer your club administrator or partner to our website, where they’ll find all the information they need. The existence of this virtual card will also be widely publicized in FADOQ’s newsletters and in Virage magazine.

The application indicates that my card has expired. Why, and what do I need to do to renew it?

You probably forgot to renew before your card expired following the notice you received. There’s still time to renew, either via the app, by phone at the number listed on our “Contact Us” page, or directly at https://www.fadoq.ca/en/renewal .

Is it possible to renew my recreation promo card via the mobile application?

No. The recreation promo card is valid for 10 months and cannot be renewed. Contact your regional office to renew via a regular FADOQ card.

DISCOUNTS

How is the distance calculated between my location (geolocation) and businesses offering FADOQ discounts?

Distance is calculated in km “as the crow flies” (straight line between two points).

What are the advantages of accepting geolocation?

This allows you to learn the location of merchants and partners who offer discounts to FADOQ members, without having to enter a specific address such as a street address or postal code.

What do I do if I have a technical problem?

If you have a technical problem and this FAQ does not provide a solution to your problem, you can contact customer service using the telephone number indicated in the Settings section of your Réseau FADOQ mobile application. You can also use our telephone number on our “Contact Us” page.

What should I do if I have a problem with the mobile application?

You can click on the Settings button at any time. Then click on the Help link. You will be redirected to our website. A special page has been created to answer your questions.
