Long planned, FADOQ’s 50th anniversary festivities were launched in January 2020. And there was something for everyone!
1973-10-21
Conseil régional de l’âge d’or de Sherbrooke is founded at 75 rue Chartier, Sherbrooke with Marguerite Laramée chairing the interim board of directors.
1974-12-07
The organization’s name is changed to Conseil régional de l’âge d’or de l’estrie.
1999-11-11
The organization’s name is changed to FADOQ – Région Estrie.
1981
The Humanitas-Estrie Award is presented for the first time (retired in 1985).
1982
Estrie is divided into six sectors.
The first regional games are held, featuring duckpin bowling, pool, shuffleboard, 500, and a bean bag toss.
1985
First seniors expo held at Carrefour de l’Estrie.
FADOQ – Région Estrie develops the VIACTIVE program, now known as KINO-OR.
1992
Estrie hosts Quebec’s first seniors games.
1998
First “Mass of Gratitude” held in Beauvoir.
2000
An eighth sector, Monts et Vallées, is created.
2001 The regional network’s first website goes online.
2003 Sherbrooke splits into two sectors, east and west.
2012
The federation moves to a new office at 102-288 rue Marquette, Sherbrooke.
2015
The first Jacqueline-Myre Award for exceptional contribution to quality of life for people age 50 and over is presented.
