FADOQ President Gisèle Tassé-Goodman received a prestigious honour on April 12.
She was awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s Seniors medal by the Honourable Manon Jeannotte, Lieutenant Governor of Québec, during a ceremony held in the Outaouais region.
This medal recognizes individuals who have contributed to the well-being of their community or to the achievement of an organization’s mission through sustained volunteer involvement in social or community activities.
A leading figure in volunteerism and social leadership, Mrs. Tassé-Goodman is completing her third and final term as President of FADOQ. Over the past six years, she has passionately and convincingly voiced the concerns of seniors, notably by defending their rights before political authorities.
Her remarkable involvement in public discourse has led to concrete progress, such as the expansion of the Françoise David Act and the shingles vaccination program. She has not only improved the lives of today’s seniors but has also helped build a more just and inclusive society for the generations to come.
Mrs. Tassé-Goodman has also stood out in the Outaouais region for her role in the rise of pickleball, a sport that promotes physical activity and social interaction, particularly among seniors. In 2017, she contributed to the creation of the Université du Troisième Âge in Outaouais, which offers lectures and workshops without exams, allowing seniors to remain mentally active and socially and culturally engaged.
Congratulations to Mrs. Tassé-Goodman for this well-deserved recognition, which reflects her exemplary dedication and positive impact on Québec society.
