Home support policy: FADOQ takes part in consultations
FADOQ participated in consultations for the development of the national home support policy.
In addition to submitting a brief, a FADOQ team met with the committee preparing this policy on February 4.
Four main recommendations were presented:
- Sustainably invest in home care and services, ensuring that funding keeps pace with demographic trends.
- Expand proven home care initiatives, such as Intensive Home Care (SIAD), to cover the entire province of Quebec.
- Include personal assistance services in the Financial Assistance Program for Domestic Help Services.
- Maintain investments in the tax credit for home support services for seniors and simplify the claims process, particularly for seniors living in houses, apartment buildings, or condominiums.
For FADOQ, accelerating the shift towards home support is essential to meeting the needs of the population.
Investing in home care and services helps promote senior autonomy, enhances well-being, and generates savings for public finances.
