Réseau FADOQ welcomes the Ministry of Health and Social Services' (MSSS) initiativ...
People who know Gaétane Grenier from the Board of Directors of FADOQ – Région des Laurentides admire her passion and the remarkable pace she has set herself at 70.
Other striking characteristics include her infectious energy and rigorous work ethic.
Gaétane Grenier gives computer classes and support, is involved in a number of activities and events organized by the FADOQ des Laurentides regional group, and donates her time to the Les Petits Frères organization.
“When I retired, I spent six months doing nothing. That wasn’t how I wanted to spend my time. So I started volunteering. Honestly, it saved me. It brings me so much happiness to give my time!”
Gaétane Grenier worked for many years as an executive secretary, translating software for Digital Equipment. She also worked as an administrative assistant for Transat. An impressive career.
In her opinion, the secret to defying your age is to keep busy. Of course, health has to cooperate, but it’s essential to have plans.
“I used to love to travel, but with everything that’s going on in the world right now—forest fires, floods, heatwaves —it’s not so appealing. Today, I find my pleasure in making seniors laugh.”
A FADOQ member since she turned 50, Gaétane Grenier has always wanted to be there for seniors, whom she considers to be living history books.
“I once supported a Fille de Duplessis who was 90 years old. She had a lot to say. I also remember a lady with low vision who emigrated in her youth. These are very inspiring stories.”
