FADOQ proposes key priorities for the health prevention strategy

After working for Domtar for almost 37 years, Martial Pruneau retired some 13 years ago. He’s been busy ever since. The 69-year-old has discovered a fascination for genealogy. At the time of writing, he had already written four family books.
“One day, I met a Pruneau who was making family trees,” he says. “That gave me the idea, and gradually I made a family tree for my immediate family.” Then, I was asked to do my mother’s family tree and that of several other branches of the Pruneau family. Now, I’m working on them almost full time. I spend about four hours a day on it. It’s fun.”
In addition to genealogy, the man from Windsor has many hobbies, including coaching, dancing, choral singing, and karaoke!
“I added karaoke to my list recently. I organize karaoke evenings at our campground.”
Martial Pruneau is also a dance enthusiast. He has been teaching and dancing for some 20 years. One day, a friend told him about the dance evenings organized by the Les Paysans FADOQ club in Saint-Élie-d’Orford.
“I was intrigued,” he says. “I had been a FADOQ member for years, but it was for the discounts. Then, my wife and I got interested in the activities. It’s so much fun. There are the dance nights, and on Thursdays we play cards. It filled the holes in our schedule and we’re delighted.”
And that’s not counting the many new friends they have made.
His last piece of advice: “Get yourself a hobby, if not you’ll be bored. The expression ‘dying of boredom’ is not just a saying.”
