Volunteering
Volunteering with FADOQ – Rive-Sud-Suroît
Volunteering means people helping people.
The concept’s simplicity really speaks to me. I see it as an invitation to make a better world by working together to build our communities and sharing knowledge and energy. FADOQ would not have reached its current stature—the leading voice for people age 50 and over—if not for the dedication of hundreds of committed seniors in their communities. Here’s how you can follow in their footsteps:
Local FADOQ clubs
Local clubs are hubs that feature a wide range of rewarding activities, including dancing, petanques, bean bag tosses, travel, bridge, Spanish classes, and more. Behind each and every one of these activities are men and women working hard to ensure they run smoothly. Why not bring your skills to the table? Everyone is welcome!
Seniors games
For the past 24 years, a vast network of volunteers has been organizing these large regional events. For three weeks, seniors in the region show that the enjoyment of participation keeps them young at heart.
Ateliers FADOQ.ca
Many seniors easily master new communication tools like email and the Internet. They’re so good at it that they can introduce their friends to the virtual world. How about becoming a teacher yourself?
Senior-Aware
Do you have strong feelings about elder abuse? Would you like to get involved in the effort to put an end to it? The regional network can train and equip you with the materials you need to give workshops on the issue. All that’s missing is you!
Awards
Each year, FADOQ – Région Rive-Sud-Suroît honours and pays tribute to its volunteers. Its recognition of all the hard work carried out behind the scenes encourages people to volunteer, an essential component in maintaining quality of life for seniors. Thank you to everyone who is committed to enriching seniors’ lives.
